The skirt alternates two fabrics, kali by kali — one panel plain viscose silk, the next viscose Banarasi. You see it before you can name it: the light moves differently across every second panel, so the flare reads as texture rather than pattern. It is a quiet idea, and it does more than embroidery would.
The work is deliberately restrained. Cutdana, bead and zari sit as small butis up the panels and gather into a deep band at the hem, leaving the two weaves room to do their job.
Pista is the daylight option — a soft green that photographs cool against gold and sits well outdoors, which is why it tends to get worn to the haldi and the mehendi rather than the evening.
