Three pieces, and the jacket does the talking. A rani pink raw silk crop jacket with a notched collar, worked all over in mirror, zari and stone — flowers, leaves and vines in gold and blush — and finished along every edge with cowrie shells, gold ghungroo bells and pearl drops. It moves and it makes sound, which is the point at a mehendi.
Under it, a plain rani pink raw silk blouse, deliberately unworked so the jacket has somewhere to sit.
The skirt is the opposite of subtle in the best way: printed georgette in a bold abstract colour-block — magenta, violet, mint, orange, lime — shapes running into one another with no border and no embroidery at all. Georgette gives it a big soft flare that moves properly when you dance. Cowrie and tassel latkans hang at the waist.
There is no dupatta with this set — the jacket replaces it. Nothing to manage, nothing to pin, both hands free.
