A Panetar bridal lehenga in its truest form — a white raw silk body under dense silver and gold work, framed by a deep red border, and finished with two red net dupattas.

The panetar is the Gujarati bride's own tradition, gifted to her by her maternal uncle and worn for the ceremony itself. White for purity, red for the life she is beginning: the pairing is the whole meaning of the garment, and it is why a panetar can never simply be a white lehenga with a coloured hem. The proportion matters — the red has to hold the white, not decorate it.

Here the body is worked corner to corner in zari, stone, sequin and dori — flowering vines climbing the full height of the skirt, so at a distance it reads as silver on white and up close as a garden. The border turns red and deepens: scalloped bands, paisley runs and a heavy embroidered edge. Both net dupattas are red, scattered with butis and bordered to match, so one can be draped over the head for the pheras and the second across the shoulder.

It arrives ready to wear, with a matching kamar belt and latkans — which matters for a ceremony outfit that gets worn once, on a fixed date, with no time for fittings.
