Deep maroon raw silk, worked with restraint. Tall slim kalka panels run the height of each kali in silver-gold zari, separated by narrow beaded stripes, and the silk is left open between them — the pattern draws the eye down rather than filling the surface. Everything is then handed to the hem, where a deep band of paisleys and floral medallions closes the skirt under a scalloped edge.

The blouse carries the weight the skirt doesn't: dense beadwork across the bodice and sleeves with a bead-drop fringe at the hem. It comes with two dupattas — an organza and a net — so the drape can go heavier for the ceremony and lighter after, and is finished with heavy latkans.

Maroon rather than red: deeper, less bright under camera flash, and easier to wear again.
