Cherry raw silk, cut in twelve kalis. Twelve panels is what gives this its sweep — a four-panel skirt cannot open the same way, and raw silk has the body to hold the shape once it does.
Fine silver chains of butis fall the height of the skirt, each ending in a hanging kalash pendant. Below them the hem turns dense: caparisoned elephants walking between arched panels, then tiers of scalloped fans and a deep worked edge.
Cherry is the brighter, cleaner red — truer than maroon and warmer than crimson, and the one that photographs closest to how it looks in the room.
Two dupattas come with it — an organza and a net, both bordered to match — so one can go over the head for the ceremony and the lighter one across the shoulder after. Finished with a matching kamar belt and latkans.
